Oceanographic Cruise with R/V Urania

Within the framework of joint italian-montenegrin project ADRICOSM-STAR, scientific cruise MNG0301 was done from 8-11 of March 2010. Cruise was conducted by italian research vessel „Urania“ . This is the fifth cruise done within the same project as a continuation of the previous bathymetric, oceanographic and sedimentological investigation in the territorial sea of Montenegro. The investigated area was coastal zone of Montenegrin and Northern Albanian territorial waters. Priority of investigation was given to the area of the Bojana River Delta in order to estimate possible changes after the recent flood in January 2010. The part of cruise was carried out for collection data within the Bokakotorska Bay.

During the investigation a modern single-beam and multi-beam bathymetric technology was used, as well as  standard equipment for sediment sampling (box corer, grab), magnetometric equipment, Sea Bird CTD probe for hydrological measurement and modern softwares equipment for data collection.

Research work was coordinated by CNR-ISMAR from Bologna, Italy.  Participants from italian (ISMAR Bologna, UNIVPMA Ancona), montenegrin (Geologycal Survey of Montenegro, EPA of Monetengro) and albanian (IEWE-UniversityofTirana) institutions created scientific team of this cruise. The obtained data will be used to finish planned bathymetric mapping of montenegrin sea bottom and to provide concrete results on the basis of done geomorphological, sedimentological and seismic analysis.
