Within the framework of research of the South Adriatic Sea and the Montenegrin shelf Kotor, research of marine biological resources are in progress, particularly researches of economically important species of fishes, crustaceans, mollusks and cephalopods. with standard methods of fisheries biology parameters of population dynamics are estimated (length-weight relationship, growth parameters, mortality rates, selectivity of fisheries tools) as well as estimates of biomass and the Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) of demersal and pelagic resources.

Permanent monitoring of national resources is in progress, recording data from Montenegrin  commercial trawl vessels, as well as periodical trawl surveys in the framework of international projects (FAO AdriaMed, MEDITS).

Researches of pelagic resources is been conducted with the Italian scientifically-research vessel, using the echosounding method and recording catches of pelagic trawl. At the same time ichthyoplankton researches are conducted, especially of small pelagic species, sardines and anchovies. This research tracked and hydrographic research, with Hydrographic probe.

Laboratory has a significant international cooperation in the framework of international scientifically-research projects:

• Joint assessment of ecological situation in the sea border between Montenegro and Croatia (fish fry sites in the coastal Montenegrin seaside), IMB - Dubrovnik

• Comparison of the main anchovy stock population features between two areas (Greece: Aegean Sea) and (Montenegro: Adriatic)

 Based  on the plan of using the funds for encouraging the agriculture development since 2004. following projects were implemented:

• Estimation of sardine and anchovy stocks in territorial and international waters Montenegrin shelf
• Monitoring of demersal settlements on Montenegrin shelf
• Valorization of aquaculture potentials of Sasko lake
